Find a Montana Supreme Court decision?
The State Law Library scans and publishes on its website all Montana Supreme Court opinions and the briefs that are submitted by the parties for those cases. Currently, you can access cases dating back to the 1980s. In addition, the law library publishes online selected Supreme Court orders.
You can search all of these Supreme Court documents by entering keywords docket number, party names, topic, etc.) in the searchbox located here. For more advanced search options, click here. If you need help finding an Opinion, Order, or Brief, contact the Reference Librarian for more information.
Find information about a particular Montana court case?
- To find information about a Montana state District Court case, you must contact the Clerk of Court for the court where the case was filed.
- For information on cases filed in the courts of limited jurisdiction ( Justice Court, City Court, and Municipal Court), you should contact the office of the judge involved. You can find contact information for local courts in the Court Locator. Simply click on the appropriate district/county, and local court information will appear.
- For information on Water Court cases, contact the Water
Court directly.
